Dreaming and Working
This blog is designed to help me to find a Sponsor to finance my education at Brigham Young University at Provo, Utah.
I’d like to introduce me to you. I’m Rodrigo Sampaio Rodrigues. I’m 18, I’m member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and I’m from Fortaleza, Brazil. That’s not all about me. I have a dream.
Some people say that you can know someone through its thoughts or actions, I say you can know through its dreams, things he or she want to do at life and in the future. I’m in this definition because I have a dream. I want to study at Brigham Young University at Provo, Utah. It’s just one of my dreams ‘cause I want even more.
Well, I have joined the church eleven years ago rather my complete family. We’ve been faithful to the Lord and his teachings since that time. My family is something precious to me, I love them, I’m very happy for knowing I will have my family forever, just because we’re members of the true church of Jesus Christ.
I read The Book of Mormon for the first time when I was 12. It impressed me deeply like no other book. Then I felt it is true and received my testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ. This testimony has made and makes a real difference in my life especially because it changed me completely and has turned me into a new person.
I’ve been dreaming of studying at BYU since I was 13 or 14 and worked hard as much as possible to make it come true. I come from a lower class family and my parents don’t have the financial ability to afford such education, but they helped me as they could. I made a good English course which enabled me to learn what I know and helps me now stay always learning, they helped me get good grades at school and they taught me to live the gospel and be faithful to Jesus Christ. All this has prepared me to study at BYU someday and I have believed that through the years.
I love BYU. I dream of get into its rooms, listen the professors teach the sciences and the gospel, stay all the days long at the campus, studying in the Harold B. Lee Library, getting a sundae at the Creamery, talking to friends at the Wilk, watching a game of BYU x U of U and seeing BYU get the game.
I dream of listening to prophets and apostles of Jesus Christ talking to me matters of eternal importance, I dream of entering the temple every time when I feel like to have a time just for me and God, I dream of feeling much nearer to heaven than ever having these experiences which I couldn’t have at no other place than BYU. I dream of having memorable experiences for lifetime and eternity. I want to dedicate my life to Jesus Christ and his church through service, in addition, everything that I learn at BYU.
I intend to take a double major at English and Portuguese with a possible third major at Communications, Broadcast Journalism, and some minors in Spanish and French. I love learn languages especially English and Spanish and I have an old dream of working as Portuguese teacher at the United States or Canada. About Communications, I love to work with writing and speaking so I dream to work as journalist mainly at broadcasting. I intend to take graduate studies in one or two of these areas.
I’m looking for a Sponsor to finance my education at BYU. I’m looking for a friendly latter-day saint family to welcome me in the United States and be a reference to me and I’m looking for an opportunity. I’d like to find both three together.
I’m going on a mission next year at March and just after my mission I’d like to apply for BYU. While I’m serving at my mission I’d like to keep contact through letters and e-mails with people and families interested in helping me. My mission is part of my dream, I’ve never thought about BYU without thinking of serving a mission. Being a missionary is something special to me I wouldn’t never give up or change nor even for BYU. I’m very excited and I’m decided to be the best missionary I can be.
I take on me the commitment to work hard, always study a lot and get good grades and stay worthy to enter the temple. Abide by the Honor Code and keep the good name of BYU in the world.
Please, this is my petition, help me to study at BYU. Be my Sponsor.
If you’re able and willing to help me, get in touch with me through my e-mail or if you know someone or a family that would be able and willing o help me, please, send this blog entry to them. The ways to get in touch with me will come below.
Help me to fulfill this dream. I’m not trying to emotionally blackmail anyone. I’m totally sincere at my thoughts and words. God is witness of this.
Sincerely
Rodrigo Sampaio Rodrigues
